It’s the 80th anniversary of the first scheduled flight from The Beehive this week. A milestone anniversary that Orega Gatwick at The Beehive - Gatwick Airport’s original terminal building - was proud to celebrate.

The first scheduled flight took place on 17 May 1936 taking passengers to Paris. Nowadays over 40 million passengers pass through the airport per year and it has the world’s busiest single-use runway.

Gatwick Airport has a fantastic and glamorous history. Visitors include President John F. Kennedy, Her Majesty The Queen and Pope John Paul II. It was also a film destination for The Beatles music video for “A Hard Day’s Night”.

A lot has changed at The Beehive since 1936. The building closed as an airport terminal in 1956 and underwent a £1.6 million refurbishment in 2008. Orega Gatwick moved into The Beehive in 2009 and have since operated flexible working solutions to a range of businesses of all sizes from this iconic building.
