How to Make Your Office More 'Silicon Valley'

Written on Tuesday, 10 April 2018

Over recent years, employers have become much more focused on creative ways to keep productivity and motivation high. Large companies are competing to have the most innovative workspaces and the best benefit schemes - you’d be surprised at just how much of a positive impact it can have on your business! Silicon Valley is the heart and soul of technology, home to some of the world’s biggest innovators, genius’, thought-leaders and pioneers. So it’s no wonder that Silicon Valley has a monopoly of ‘cool’ workspaces. Be inspired by a few of our favourites…

1. EBAY

Designed with bright, bold colours in mind, Ebay’s offices are are set out as if it’s its own village. Sign posts guide visitors to the right area and are all designed with brand colours in mind. It’s home to multiple coffee shops, too, where employees can have a break from their busy schedules and wind down.

2. FACEBOOK

Facebook’s Silicon Valley office transformed their office roof into a park - a pretty incredible spot for meetings, right? Obviously, not all businesses will have the budget for a rooftop park, but bringing a little bit of the outdoors indoors works wonders for boosting creativity and morale.

3. DROPBOX

From skateboarding through corridors to having downtime in the music room where a grand piano sits, Dropbox’s Silicon Valley office is the epitome of ‘chilled’. It doesn’t stop there, whilst in brainstorms and meetings, Dropbox provides boxes of lego in each room to inspire creativity!

4. AIRBNB

Known for being one of the most popular accommodation finders, Airbnb enables people to rent their homes wherever they are in the world. So, what better way to design the HQ than to have each room as a replica of a different holiday home. From Paris to California, visiting Airbnb feels like a trip around the world!

The Apple Campus based at Silicon Valley is designed to resemble that of a university, with the buildings arranged around lush green spaces and the recent rebuild of its headquarters looks like a spaceship from far in the future.

6. Box

Their company motto is ‘bring your fun, wacky self to work’ and that’s exactly what they’ve managed to do. Box’s offices are full of bright colours, and have themed rooms based on nightclub and theme parks. Box also have a sports room, blue room and a slippery slide!
