The judges, Carolyn Maniukiewicz, Founder of Ideas in Partnership, Yekemi Otaru, Founder of Yo! Marketing and Orega’s very own Co-Founder Zach Douglas had a tough decision to make to choose the winner. All 5 finalists presented their start-up business with outstanding potential, but we could only choose one.
Zach Douglas said: “I thought the #StartMeUp Pitch competition was great, there were some very strong business ideas coming from the Aberdeen finalists. The future is bright for these entrepreneurs and we look forward to watching them grow.”
Zach Douglas explains: “We chose LiberEat as the winner as Barry had done significant amounts of research into his business, he had secured highly credible third party contributors and we could see the scalability potential both nationally and internationally.”
LiberEat is an app that makes life easier for people with intolerances, allergies, ethical concerns and who follow a healthy lifestyle while eating out at restaurants, cooking their favourite recipes at home and shopping at the supermarket.

Barry Leaper said about winning the competition: “It was really great to win the competition, especially against a very strong group of entrepreneurs. Orega Aberdeen will be a great place to take LiberEat to the next level. For anyone looking to enter future #StartMeUp Pitches with Orega, just go for it! It was a really great experience and we have learnt a lot about our business in the process.”
Orega would like to thank all the #StartMeUp Pitch finalists in Aberdeen and Liverpool for taking part in our competition and hope that their businesses continue to grow successfully in the future.
