Wondering what it's like to be based at Orega Birmingham? Let us introduce you to our team and find out what they have to say.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do.
Hi, I’m Caron and I’m the Sales & Customer Service Manager at Orega Birmingham. I've been working at Orega for more than eight years, managing the Customer Service operations for our current clients and looking for new businesses who are searching for office space in Birmingham.
What do you love most about your job at Orega?
It's all about the people - our clients, my team - as well as daily challenges, the fabulous atmosphere and not to forget the great management support.
What are the 3 best features of Orega Birmingham?
That's a hard one. There are so many great features at this business centre, but what stands out to me are the new business lounge on the ground floor, exceptional facilities including a complimentary gym, treatment rooms and the on-site café as well as our beautifully designed meeting rooms.
What are the main industries your clients work in?
Our clients mainly work in finance, insurance, recruitment and construction.
What do your clients love most about Orega?
Dealing on a daily basis with our clients, I can say they love our support team and the quality of service we provide, but also the modern interior as well as the facilities.
Which are your favourite 5 restaurants near the office?
Apart from our 1More on-site café, which offers great lunch options, I would recommend Opus bar with its beautiful outdoor terrace, Philpotts for the big variety of delicious food options, The Crown which is one of the most important venues in Birmingham's music history as well as The Old Contemptibles, a traditional pub of unique character and full of First World War memories.
Which are your favourite 5 bars to go for a drink after work?
There are quite a few options for after work drinks. My favourite ones near the Colmore building are Jekyll & Hide which serves 100 types of gin, The Alchemist for fantastic cocktails, The Botanist if you love to listen to live music while sipping cocktails or wine, Italian fine dine bar and restaurant San Carlo as well as The Ivy with its beautiful interior.
What do you do to recharge after a busy working day?
We as a team organised a Chanel evening at Selfridges with bubbles and a makeover. That was such a great evening - I can highly recommend it!
When I get home from work, I usually say: "Alexa, soothing, classical, piano music". To wind down, I love to listen to classical music and to read a good book. My favourite book at the moment is Slave Girl by Sarah Forsyth. It's based on a true story.
What makes Birmingham as a city so special and what would you recommend to see and eat?
Definitively the friendly and welcoming 'Brummies' [the people from Birmingham] and the multicultural mix.
If you love shopping and architecture, the Bullring shopping centre and the Grand Central Station are the places to be.
Did you know that the series Peaky Blinders was inspired by and filmed at two famous spots in Birmingham, at Garrison Lane and the canal bridges. You should definitively check it out!
And if you're looking for a fun day out, visit the Resorts World Birmingham near the airport. There are fantastic restaurants, outlet stores, entertainment and the biggest casino in the UK!
A dish you have to try when in Birmingham? There is an area called 'Little India' where you can get the best Curry's in the UK - at any time of the day.
Thanks for answering all our questions and your 'Brummie' tips, Caron!
